Board of Education Appoints New Member

The Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Board of Education appointed Megan Dimmerling as their new Board colleague during a Special Meeting on Feb. 1.
“As an educator and a parent, I’m honored to become a part of the GJPS Board of Education,” Dimmerling said. “This is truly a district that inspires learners and helps all students build their future.”
Dimmerling has dedicated her career to education with a variety of professional licensures. She has her license for: Principal for elementary and middle school, K-12 Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist, K-12 Library Media Specialist, K-12 Reading Endorsement, 4-9 Language Arts and Social Studies and she is a Certified Associate Level for Orton-Gillingham. She also has a wide variety of professional development experience in the education field.
Dimmerling is currently an intervention specialist at Dublin Scioto High School, where she has been for the past three years. Before that, she served as a library media specialist for 10 years at Thomas Elementary School in Dublin City Schools. She also taught in Teays Valley Schools for five years.
“Mrs. Dimmerling really shined through her application and the interview process,” GJPS Board President Kara Coates said. “We as a Board love her commitment to education and her dedication to supporting each of our students. We are excited to welcome her to our Board.”
The new Board member has lived in Gahanna for nearly nine years with her husband and three children. Dimmerling has volunteered in her children’s schools and is an active member of the Mifflin Presbyterian Church. She has served as a leader for multiple Girl Scout troops and has assisted with GRIN’s food drives.
A Special Board Meeting will be announced for Dimmerling to be sworn in.
“I have seen firsthand the top-tier education Gahanna-Jefferson provides throughout the District,” Dimmerling said. “I am looking forward to working with students, staff and community members to continue empowering students to reach their full potential.”
